First Year Anniversary!

I have something to blog about! We will be married one year March 7th.

We decided to take a little anniversary trip to Dallas Friday, so we made reservations at the Renaissance and had a very nice room with a pretty view of the Dallas skyline.

For one of our wedding presents we received a gift certificate at Roy's so we took advantage of that gift and had a wonderful meal. Our table was decorated with tiny hearts and when we opened the menu there was a congratulatory message. Our meal was simply delicious and the service was excellent.

After dinner we went to see Phantom of the Opera at Fair Park. The acting was great and the music beautiful!

Saturday morning we enjoyed breakfast at a The Breadwinners (per recommendation of Danielle & Mike). Most delectable. We had Leo's special-- eggs with ham, bacon, cheese, tomatoes and Hollandaise sauce and a yummy Belgiam waffle.

Next, it was off to look at hundreds of granite slabs...for our new house. I have never seen so many varieties of granite and marble. Absolutely amazing! We found two that we especially like for our kitchen island . (sorry no pictures) I think we will probably have to make another trip... very overwhelming!

After that we met Bryson and Colton for lunch at Razoo's....yes, we had a very nice trip!

Well, of all things Waco got snow! It was beautiful...starting about 5:30 am and has continued all day (with some melting). Here are a few pics I took today and then some are before the snow of our construction project.

Les and I have a new project! OUR first home. Here are a few pictures...the rain is already slowing down our progress, but hopefully the framers will begin this week.

shopping day in salado

today danielle and i went to salado for the afternoon to shop around. in front of one of the stores was this beautiful tree. don't the clouds look pretty behind it? it was perfect weather for shopping outside-cool and breezy. this porch i'm standing on is the front of a little shop called horsefeathers. we found some beautiful things in here. can't wait to come back when i'm decorating our new home!

Day in Austin

After getting home Monday night, Les from Naples and me from Plano, Tuesday we had to make a quick trip to Bergstrom Airport in Austin to pick up Les' luggage that he couldn't retrieve at DFW. So, why not make it a fun trip! We had lunch at Pappadeaux's and then did a little shopping, a real neat appliance store with all those wonderful commercial ranges, then to Nordstrom's Rack, Whole Foods and then we topped it off at The Oasis on Lake Travis.

It was a beautiful day and the evening was so pleasant sitting on the patio, sipping wine and overlooking the lake. Enjoy my pictures!

Weekend @ Fredericksburg

Les and I decided to take a little trip to Fredericksburg and enjoy the sites. We didn't realize it was "Trade Days" and a big wedding in town, so we didn't make reservations. The first night we stayed where we could find a room and the next night we had our choice.

We spent Saturday with Larry & Susie Lardy from Kerrville and we had such a fun time starting with breakfast at a German bakery and then on to shopping. I purchased a beautiful urn (No, not Grecian) for our new house--when that happens. We mostly "looked" at shops-one an art gallery where we could go outside and see the outdoor art of different designers. (This is the shop where I dropped my camera and no more pictures!)

That afternoon the Lardy's gifted us with tickets to a local performance of music, comedy and impersonations. It was a great show! After that we took them to dinner at a restaurant that was formerly a cotton gin. Wonderful food! (no pictures)
Oh, I didn't mention the wildseed farm...that was interesting and beautiful plants everywhere...no, I didn't buy any seeds but I did buy some jelly/jam.

Sunday we went to Enchanted Rock and enjoyed our drive seeing wildlife along the way. Then back to Waco via Marble Falls which is such a quaint town. We ate outside on the river and it was very scenic. Lots of fun and few pictures :(

TV Dinner

Sunday was a "stay home" day, at least for Les. I bought groceries after the meeting and delivered Mom & Dad with their shopping request. After that I decided to watch a movie and it was one of my favorites, "To Catch a Thief". We had eaten lunch at Olive Garden so it seemed to me that we should have a light dinner while watching TV. And we did! Consisting of laMadeleine Tomato Basil soupe, broiled sausage, cheese, crackers,veggies, wine and a lemmon pie.

This reminded me of years ago when we would have a fun dinner and watch TV in our study...so I thought you girls would appreciate reminiscing. Is it any wonder that you both are constantly serving gourmet dinners???

The Last Blooms

Fall is always a sad-happy time for me...I love the change in temperature and the crisp feeling I get when going for my walks, but I'm sad to see the flowers die and the earth turn its' brown stage of color. So, here's two of my favorite flowers!

The pretty purple flower Les bought after seeing it in service. We love it! It is so dainty and colorful with its' delicate while laced edges.

The other is an African Violet that I purchased and have not tried to nuture. It blooms faithfully for me, perhaps begging for one more season.

I took pictures of some other remaining flowers, but they looked worse than they really are! Anyway, enjoy my last summer blooms!

Fall is in the Air!

Here I am trying to "fallize" my living room. I bought a few pumpkins (mantle) and some fall flowers ( which I'm proud of my arrangement--it looks orange, but it's really red) and of course put out my reliable red apples. It looks cute, but no comparison to my daughters' fall theme.

A Night At The Symphony

Les and I decided to go to the symphony for a little culture. I was mentioning that we might go to Danielle and she said they already had tickets! Since they were going, that made the evening more fun. It was spectacular! Nikolaas Kende is an unbelievable pianist! What a performance!After hearing him perform, we enjoyed meeting Danielle & Mike at Cheddar's for some refreshments. What a nice evening!!!

6th Month Anniversary

Well, here it is 6 months of marital bliss! We have had lots of fun and lots of adjustments...it's a rewarding challenge.

Our dinner was going to be at Diamond Back's, but they were closed due to the Labor Day Holiday, so we went to 135 Prime or is it Prime 135? Anyway, we had a very nice dinner of wine, New York Strip steak , garlic mashed potatoes and delicious salad. Oh, and wonderful olive bread.

After dinner we came home and opened presents. Les bought me a pretty diamond ankle bracelet--unfortunately it was a little small so he's getting that taken care of today. A nice surprise!!! My gift to him was a Cross ballpoint pen (not pictured). It's really pretty but not quite the equal...although he really liked it.

We sat on the patio under the stars and listened to music...and reflected!

It was a very nice evening and a special memory!

Girls' Weekend

What a fun time our little "foursome" had in Plano! Yummy lunch at Central Market, shopping, more good food (Freddy's was so cute & delicious) and lots of conversation and laughter.

Had fun with McKinlee while Susanne and Chris shopped. She is a great little kitchen helper! Two pans of brownies and even cleaned up!!!

Danielle covered our trip quite well on her blog, but might I add...we did have fun although there were a few negatives! Hence the spiders and no power were "biggies". The IMAX was beautiful --almost like scuba diving . The shopping turned out good! I have some new outfits... Anyway,

We did have a fun luncheon with "our kids" while Staci was here from Florida. We met in Lewisville and my girls got to meet Leslie for the first time. We had a good lunch at Saltgrass and some good laughs...

Dinner @ Our Place

Saturday evening we invited the DelSordos, Palms & Staci's family over for an evening. We had grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans and some good desserts (pinneapple upside down cake made by Imelda). We went on line to try and figure out the Hoedown Throwdown and we were singing and attempting to learn it. Lauren was the ring leader... Lots of fun! We will miss our friends here, but they are coming to Texas to visit! (we hope)

For those of you who would like to see our temporary home here in Naples, these pics are for you. The villa is furnished (not to our specifications), but it will do for the short time we will be here. the prettiest areas are the entrance and the patio. Every morning we can see the sun rise on the golf course. Palms and the flowers make it!

We were invited to the sweetest Italian family's home for dinner Saturday. Of course the food was delicious and the family is so welcoming. Here are a few of the friends and family that joined us. shopping trip to Waterside

Staci and I decided to go shopping at a real elegant center--Waterside Shops. Of course we had to go to Antropologie. Here are a few of my favorite things: the hammock, lucious bedspread and this neat "A" filled with rubber bands.

We had a fun time while "Grand-pa Les" took care of the kids...he was just waking up when we got home!

Each morning when we meet at the Kingdom Hall for service, the beautiful flowers are breath-taking. It starts the morning off with a bright, happy feeling....I love the variety of flora here in Naples.

Breakfast in Naples....

We are trying to personalize our temporary home and our first furniture purchase is this little bistro table. The owners of this villa had left their patio furniture and it was terrible (off to the trash it went) and now we have something cuter to eat breakfast on and enjoy the Florida air (rather humid)...we can watch golfers from our patio and we are collecting a few balls!

Here we are at a Florida "hoe-down". This party was at a beautiful banquet room in one of the Naples' subdivisions. We were two of the few real Texans attending and we didn't look the part! Oh, well it was lots of good food, dancing, and fun friends.

I'm On My Way...

to my new home of Naples, Florida for the next 2 months! After a beautiful wedding, reception in Naples, and reception in Waco, and after much visiting with friends, I'll be enjoying becoming a Floridian. Although I'll miss family and friends, my expectations are to thoroughly enjoy an extended honeymoon and adjust to married life after 20 years of being single. Each day brings new challenges and joys, and I hope that I can meet each with a smile.
